We believe that every student can succeed in mathematics when given the proper motivation and tools. Our goal is to create a pipeline of world class mathematics students who are prepared to compete for scholarships to top colleges and universities throughout the nation. Our programs also include:

Katherine Johnson Scholar Sisters
Introducing “The Katherine Johnson Scholar Sisters,” a transformative STEM club in Wichita, Kansas, which originated within the esteemed Build and Rebuild Math Academy, founded by the visionary mathematician Dr. William Polite Jr., a Morehouse College alumnus. Dr. Polite’s dedication to advancing mathematics education laid the foundation for this innovative initiative.
Initially focusing on empowering young African American women, the club was named after the pioneering mathematician Katherine Johnson, symbolizing the spirit of excellence and determination in STEM fields.
Benjamin Banneker Math and STEM Club
Now, with an expanded vision to include both boys and girls, the initiative has evolved into the Benjamin Banneker Math and STEM Club, embracing inclusivity and excellence.
The initiative has found a new home at the Build and Rebuild Education, Family, and Community Center in Northeast Wichita, a cutting-edge facility dedicated to educational enrichment and community engagement.
At the core of the Benjamin Banneker Math and STEM Initiative is a commitment to fostering advanced mathematical proficiency, ACT preparation, and college readiness. With strategic partnerships with Wichita State University (WSU) and WSU Tech, participants gain access to unparalleled resources and opportunities for academic advancement and professional growth.
WSU Tech’s involvement enhances the initiative by providing expertise in technical education and workforce development, ensuring that participants are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in STEM careers.
Under Dr. Polite’s leadership, the Benjamin Banneker Math and STEM Initiative continues to inspire and empower the next generation of STEM leaders in Wichita and beyond. By nurturing a love for mathematics and STEM disciplines, the initiative is shaping a brighter future for the community and fostering a legacy of excellence in STEM education.
